I know you wouldn’t buy a house without a firm foundation, but would you build your life without one?
What foundation or truths do you base YOUR life upon?
THE WISE AND FOOLISH BUILDERS
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord’ and do not do what I say? I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.” (A Parable from Jesus – Luke 6:46-49)
Today’s society often says there is no absolute truth. There must be a standard to live by. If not, who gets to decide what the rules should be? Why are you here? And what will happen to you when your life on this earth is over? Who has the absolute truth about that? Truth is not what we feel and is not what we think. It is what God shows us in His Word, the Bible. Please take a few minutes to read the following important truths as they can give you a steadfast foundation and change your eternal life.
God is Holy and Just.
“No sin will ever enter His presence, for righteousness and justice are the foundation of His Throne.” (Psalm 97:2)
“God is a righteous judge, a God who expresses his wrath every day.” (Psalm 7:11)
God will by no means clear the guilty. He will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether it is good or whether it is evil. God is angry with the wicked every day. He searches the mind and heart.
“For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
Have you ever lied, stolen, or lusted? If so, God sees you as a liar, a thief, and an adulterer at heart. Stealing anything or telling just one lie breaks the 8th and 9th commandments. Looking with lust breaks the 7th commandment. The Bible says that all liars will have their place in the lake of fire and that no thief, fornicator, or adulterer will inherit the kingdom of God.
Most people want to go to heaven; they just don’t want to die to get there. Jesus said, “No one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
You can never be good enough to make up for your sins. You need a Savior!
The Price for Our Sins Must Be Paid!
“The wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23)
Our conscience has shown us right from wrong; we will be without excuse. God will give us justice, and Hell will be the place of our eternal punishment.
It is Impossible for Man to Save Himself.
“No one will be declared righteous in His sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.” (Romans 3:20)
God sent His Son to be YOUR Savior.
“This is love; not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:10)
Jesus, The Living Savior, Invites You to Receive Him.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
The Forgiveness of Sins and Salvation Can be Yours Today.
“For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” (1 Peter 3:18)
Jesus, The One and Only Son of God, Died For You!
He came to earth, and lived a perfect sinless life. He was crucified even though He was completely innocent. He received the punishment that we deserved. He was the perfect sacrifice; He was put into our place and took on Himself the sentence of death that should have been ours. Jesus did not, however, remain dead. After three days, He rose from the grave and later ascended into heaven. He will return for all those who are trusting in Him alone as their Savior.
You can be saved!
“If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
It doesn’t matter what you have done in the past, you can be saved by asking Him for forgiveness from your sins. If you are willing to repent (turn from your sins) and believe in Jesus, He is waiting to forgive you. You need to look at your life, admit that you are a sinner, decide to turn away from that sin, and ask God to forgive you. If you want to pray and ask Jesus to be your Savior, you can say a prayer something like the one below.
Prayer:
To find the way to God, to understand the truth of God’s Word, and to receive the free gift of eternal life, begin by repentance and faith through a prayer like this:
Dear God, I understand that I have broken Your Law and sinned against You. Today I turn away from all of my sins (name them). Thank You that Jesus suffered on the cross in my place. This day I put my trust in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. He is the only way for me to be saved. He is the way, the truth, and the life. Please forgive me, change my heart, and grant me Your gift of everlasting life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
If you have repented and trusted in Jesus as your savior, it is important to begin growing in your relationship with Jesus. Read the Bible daily and see what God has in store for those who love Him. Find yourself a Jesus-centered, Bible-teaching church and commit yourself to it. You will enjoy the support, encouragement, and Christian fellowship provided by your local church. A pastor will also be available there to help answer questions you may have.
